Our Story
Known since 1476 as the “Locanda delle Due Spade,” the establishment was renamed “Torquato Tasso Caffè e Bottiglieria” in 1681, when a statue was erected nearby in honor of the great poet Torquato Tasso.
In 1849, at the height of the Italian Wars of Independence, the café was struck by an Austrian cannonball. A decade later, in 1859, it became the meeting place for the volunteers from Bergamo preparing to follow Garibaldi in the legendary Expedition of the Thousand.
Artists
Over the centuries, Caffè del Tasso has been a gathering place for artists, intellectuals, and prominent figures, becoming a hub for cultural and social discussions. Even today, it remains an important meeting point where history, culture, and culinary tradition come together to create a unique experience.

Caffè del Tasso, located in Bergamo Alta, is not only a historic café but also a renowned restaurant offering a unique gastronomic experience. Founded in 1476, it is one of the oldest establishments in Italy and has built a solid reputation over the centuries, becoming a beloved landmark for both locals and visitors.
CELLAR
Our wine cellar was born from the Menalli family’s passion for wine and its history. A constantly evolving selection that offers some of the most prestigious Italian and French labels.
Our choices are not only based on product quality or market trends but, above all, on the stories of winemakers and the wine traditions behind every single hectare of land.
